12noon – Visit begins. This is their district’s monthly open visit day – there will be other districts in attendance

Overview: Council Bluffs is one of three Google pilot locations for the Chromebook. They currently have 4,300 devices deployed to all 9th thru 12th grade students, and during 2013 plans are to expand down to 6th grade. By 2014, plans are to have a Chromebook in the hands of all 3rd thru 12th graders.

7:50am: Leave from LRC parking lot
10am: Arrive at Middle School, talk with their team who lead the initiative. Also tour the middle school building as well as talk with some teachers.
11 / 11:15am: Visit their high school, talk with building leaders and teachers about the implementation at the high school.
12 noon: Visit is finished, time for lunch (several of their key staff may join us to allow for follow up discussion)
1/1:15pm: Start trip back home
3:15/3:30pm: Estimated return
Return: 3:30pm to LRC
Overview: Their middle school (5th-8th) was destroyed in a flood in 2008. As they were rebuilding the school, they made the decision to move to 1:1 ipads, which were deployed to all 5th -8th in the fall of 2011. Fall of 2012, they then expanded to high school, meaning that they are currently deployed to all 5th grade thru 12th grade.

9:30am: Visit starts at Johnston High School. Since Johnston just launched their project within the last month, the focus won’t be as much on classroom visits – but instead on why they decided to do 1:1
12 noon: Visit ends, return to LRC at or around: 12:30pm
Overview: They launched 1:1 iPads with 10th thru 12th graders at the high school during Jan 2013.

Overview: Deployed iPads to all 9th and 10th graders during fall of 2012. Plan to deploy to each incoming 9th grade class in the future, and over time will be fully deployed to all high school students.
