WDM Staff: Apply for the next round of iPads !

As previously announced, West Des Moines Schools has started a pilot program to explore the usage of iPads in the classroom.   The first rounds took place in Sept and Oct, with equipment and training deployed to building based trainers.   These same trainers have now organized additional courses that are open to the next round of teachers.

The most significant factor is your ability to demonstrate that you currently use small group instruction to provide differeniation for students.

Applications are due by 4pm on Friday, Dec 9th.

Q6. When will participates be selected?
Our target date for the selections is Monday, December 19th.

Q7. Who is responsible for the selection process?
District Directors of Curriculum are responsible for the final selections, however, they may be consulting with building principals as needed.

Q8.  How many spots are available?
A maximum of 70 classrooms can be selected.

Q9. If I’m selected for the next round… what are my obiligations?
* You will NOT have to teach a district level course related to iPads.
* However, you WILL be responsible for providing training/support for future iPads participants.
* You will also be responsible for conducting sharing sessions with your building staff.

Q10. If I’m selected for the next round…  what equipment/training will I receive?
Each participant will receive 3 iPads and training, which includes…
* Training related to setting up, managing, backing up and restoring iPads
* Training related to classroom usage (although trainers should be reminded that the purpose of the project is to allow you to explore/test out applications and classroom integration ideas.)

The Infinite Campus Mobile Portal iOS App is now available for those parents and students with a current portal account.

Directions for installing and setting up the app.  If you already have the app installed – and just need the URL code, it is XDXPMJ.

 Once the app has been installed on an Apple® iOS device (iPod Touch®, iPhone®, iPad®), parents and students can access grades, attendance and schedule information virtually anywhere. Parents must have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account before they are able to view any student information.  If you need a Campus account, please contact your child’s school office.

Campus Mobile Features:

 1) Daily Planner allows students to know exactly when and where they need to be and to see the assignments coming up in each of their classes.

 2) Assignments provides detailed information about what students are, were, or expected to do in each class.

 3) Attendance provides both summary and detail information about absences and tardies.

 4) Grades provides immediate access to the important metrics of success and allows parents and students to “drill down” to the assignments that make up a particular grade.

Does the iPhone app work on all versions of  iPhones?
First generation of iPhone and iPod touch are NOT supported for this app.
