End of life for Windows 2008R2 Servers

This summer we’ll be doing updates our oldest server systems that run Windows 2008R2, which is no longer supported by Microsoft.

Current status of some of the systems still using Windows 2008R2

Edulog Transportation was already already working with Transportation to replace the systems.
Destiny (Library System) Making plans to update/refresh Destiny this summer
Video Camera Security and Door Security District is currently reviewing options, including replacement system
FastMath FastMath was originally purchased at the school level – we are not aware of any plans to update or replace FastMath, but we’ll work with buildings as they request assistance.
LanSchool LanSchool was originally purchased at the school level –  we are not aware of any plans to have lanschool updated or replaced, but we’ll work with buildings as they request assistance.  There’s also a chance that LanSchool on our desktop labs will still work without the server.

H: Drive storage limits to be reduced

– WDMCS Staff –

H Drive storage limits will be reduced.

Since it’s easier than ever to store all your files in Google (see the article on Drive File Stream https://wdmtech.wordpress.com/2019/02/12/drive-file-stream/ ) ,  we will begin lowering the limit on what you can store in your H drive.

Q1.  What will the new limit be?
A1.   50Gb of storage per person

Q2. How many people does this impact?
A2.  It will impact about 50 staff members.    Individuals that are impacted will be receiving information on how to move their files to Google, as well as automated messages reminding them of the exact deadline that will take place this summer.
